Energy Gates Qigong

 

Energy Gates is our most fundamental qigong set. Its practice naturally stimulates the water elemental energy of your body in accord with Chinese five-element theory.

Through a standing meditation practice, and the Cloud Hands, three swings, and spine stretch exercises, you’ll learn to let your energy flow downward—like water—toward the earth.

You’ll also learn to "dissolve" your body’s tension and pain, as well as how to maintain healthy posture for maximum energy flow.

Energy Gates Qigong: Foundations

You’ll learn a Standing Meditation practice to help you be present to, feel, and relax into your body, while cultivating healthy posture.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of the Clouds Hands exercise for more effortless movement, and the Back Release exercise to relax all your back muscles.

Additionally, we will begin to work on developing relaxed, natural breathing - one of the most powerful tools for calming your mind and learning to feel deep inside your body.

Energy Gates Refinements Series 1 Courses

In an ongoing series of Refinements Series 1 courses, we'll deepen the Standing, Cloud Hands, and First Swing exercises and learn the Second Swing and Spine Stretch exercises.

We'll also explore qigong techniques such as sinking your chi and fully lengthening your body.

The courses progress at the pace of the group.

Energy Gates Refinements Series 2 Courses

In an ongoing series of Refinements Series 2 courses, we'll go deeper into the Standing, Cloud Hands, First and Second Swing, and Spine Stretch exercises.

You’ll learn how to feel and 'outer dissolve' any energetic bindings in your body.

Then you’ll learn the locations of key energy gates in your body and how to “outer dissolve” and open those gates.

We'll also explore qigong techniques such as whole body awareness and presence, soft tissue turning and wrapping, and bending and stretching your soft tissues.

The courses progress at the pace of the group.

LATE FALL SESSION - November 4 to December 18

Prerequisite:

You must:

  • have completed a full series of Refinements 1 courses with either Kathryn Komidar or Dan Winter, OR

  • have completed in the Early Fall session the Energy Gates course sequence that Bill started last September, 2024, OR

  • have solid knowledge of the Energy Gates material listed above under Refinements 1 that you learned from another Energy Arts certified instructor, and gain permission from instructor Bill Ryan to join the course. Choose In-Person or Online Participation

Please choose whether you will be an in-person or online student. If you choose in-person status, you may attend either or both in-person classes during any week. If in any week you have to be out of town or can’t attend in-person for some other reason, you may attend the online class. Similarly, online students may attend in-person classes when in or near Northampton.

Everyone will receive the weekly recordings. Each week the online class will be recorded.

Dates:

6 weeks, November 4 to December 18. No class on November 25 and 27.
